How to Beat the Summer Heat in the Philippines

How to Beat the Summer Heat in the Philippines

Locals in the Philippines endure oppressive heat and humidity during the summer months between April and May. Most people look out to these months since that’s when they can go to the beach, but once you get back to the city, the heat is unbearable. If you find yourself in the Philippines during the summer months, the following are some useful hints to keep in mind.

What is the Best Time to Visit the Philippines?

Stay hydrated

Be sure to drink a lot of water during this season so that you can bring down the temperature of your body. As an additional option for maintaining your body’s water balance, you could take hydration salts or tablets. In order to avoid experiencing heat exhaustion or heatstroke during the summer, drink plenty of water throughout the day.

Wear light, cooling fabric.

Besides spending a lot of time in the sun and staying well hydrated, the clothes you wear can also affect how well your body adjusts to changes in temperature. I advise it to wear on garments with a loose fit that is made of a fabric that allows air to pass through it, such as cotton, rayon, chambray, or linen. Bright tops, such as yellow or orange, are effective in deflecting the sun’s heat, making the colour of your clothes another significant factor.

Refresh yourself with frozen sweets and beverages.

Ice cream (or sorbetes, which are the Filipino name for ice cream), ice candy, and halo-halo, which is a popular ice-shaved delicacy, are some of the delicious frozen delights that are ideal for enjoying throughout the warm summer months. If the sweetness of these frozen sweets is too much for you to handle, you can satisfy your thirst with refreshing beverages such as fruit shakes, smoothies, sago’t gulaman, or buko juice.

Visit some shopping malls.

If the heat at your house becomes intolerable and turning the electric fan up to its utmost speed does not keep you cool, another option to think about is going to a shopping mall that is close by. You won’t have to spend a single centavo in order to take benefit from the relaxing atmosphere that can be within these local malls, which is fantastic news if you live near one of these establishments.

Explore cool locations.

Although the Philippines is traditionally the finest place to get a tan during the hot season, not all Filipinos would put up with the heat if they had the choice. Those of you who aren’t beach bums are in luck: there are plenty of cool places scattered across the United States that you may visit to get away from the heat, even if only for a few days! To this day, Baguio City, also referred to as the “City of Pines,” maintains its position as the most important city in the Philippines during the summer months. Tagaytay City, Batanes, Sagada, Negros, and Bukidnon are some other well-known spots in the Philippines that will help you keep your cool.

Your budget, desired activities, and sights will all play a role in determining the area of any major city you choose to stay in.
